Zimheroes is a theme created to remind the world “not to forget Zimbabwe” which the most Zimbabweans away from home believe only comes on the news when there are no other major news in the media.
Pax has created his debut carnival pieces (3 giant puppets) following over 20 years working in carnival as a strategist and international carnival expert. The 3 characters, Ambuya Nehanda, Bob Marley and Bob Mugabe represent heroes in Zimbabwe’s historical timeline.

“My original idea” explains Pax “was to build just a giant inflatable head of one of these characters and blow it up at this year's Notting Hill Carnival judging point in front of the international media to make my artistic statement on the Zimbabwean crisis. Following legal advise I decided not to go that way ”

The Zimhero Giants are currently being prepared to take part in an Internationa Carnival Giants procession involving over a hundred giants from around the world. The event will be the first procession these giants will be taking part in.
The event will be in Chester in England. Click here for further event information!
Zimheroes was launched on Friday 28th August at Inn On The Green in the heart of Notting Hill where Pax spoke about the characters and why he has started making carnival characters.

The event became a meeting and networking place for Notting Hill Carnival artists and international visitors to Carnival 2009. It featured performances, a barbecue, an open mike and a surprise performance by Pax and artists from around London and Wales. There was also a Zimheroes exhibition and films from carnivals round the world from GCC’s sort after international carnival footage.
